From left to right: 1) My partner Mark Dowey, right, and I displaying our first packaged single-serve Arnold Palmer beverage at the 7th hole during the 2002 Bay Hill Invitational. 2) This display was in The Giant Eagle in Latrobe, Pennsylvania., Mr. Palmer’s hometown, where we merchandised our first sale of half gallon refrigerated Arnold Palmer TEE. It sold for $1.99 each. 3) A sampling of the original Arnold Palmer TEE brand execution incorporating bright blue packaging, Arnold Palmer’s trademark signature, and a twist on the famous Arnold Palmer umbrella using a golf tee and a lemon wedge.

Shortly thereafter, we received an inquiry from the AriZona Iced Tea Company. AriZona was interested in producing a shelf-stable version of the tea and sell it through their distribution channels.

Also, the next year resulted in about a half dozen dairies being licensed and producing the refrigerated version in half gallon containers. We were on our way.

One of the largest dairy processors was Heartland Farms in the Los Angeles/Southern California market. We made Arnold Palmer Tea the number one refrigerated iced tea drink in that market, selling in most, if not all, the supermarket chains in southern California. Ultimately, we discontinued the dairy refrigerated version to concentrate our resources on the shelf-stable formulas.
